Functions of the ICT Authority
The journey of ICTA from formation to becoming Kenya's leading digital transformation agency.

This consolidation aimed to streamline ICT functions across government and create a unified approach to digital transformation.
ICTA launched the National Digital Fibre Infrastructure (NDFI) project, connecting government offices across the country.
This foundational infrastructure enabled the rollout of digital government services and laid the groundwork for Kenya's digital economy.
The E-Citizen platform was enhanced and expanded, offering over 100 government services online.
The DigiSchool program was launched, providing digital devices and training to schools across Kenya, reaching over 1 million learners.
ICTA launched comprehensive innovation programs including the Whirlbox initiative and expanded the Presidential Digital Talent Program.
The Ajira Digital platform was introduced, creating opportunities for youth in the digital gig economy.
Today, ICTA continues to lead Kenya's digital transformation with a focus on emerging technologies, AI integration, and sustainable digital development.
The authority supports over 300 innovations and has trained 25,000+ youth in digital skills.
